This fully printed 3D shoe was designed by Katrien Herdewyn. She wanted to create a new type of shoe, both sturdy and gravity defying.
The basic shape was based on sketches, while existing shoes (and feet) were measured to make sure the printed product would fit. Printed resin is quite sturdy, so it doesn't stretch much. At the same time it should fit just right. The product had fit perfectly, with little margin of error.
Katrien Herdewyn let us know that the printed shoes fit perfectly and are quite comfortable to walk with.
An interview with the designer can be found on iMaterialise.
