Part of a bigger project, the counsil of As asked the designers to repurpose the railway site around the old station with respect to existing structures within a limited budget.

The winning design adds a small tourist office and square existing out of 2x2m slabs, while letting everything else rewilde, including the existing platforms. Some train carriages will be refitted as usable space, while others will serve their new purpose as a big graffiti canvas.

The existing station as bistro restaurant will be kept as is; extra room will be created outside with extra carriage terraces.

This design will serve as cycling hub and entrance to the nearby national park Hoge Kempen and reflects history perfectly, combining wild nature with old industry.
